Judges Announced For Scottish Championships
The Scottish Brass Band Association (SBBA) has announced the adjudicating line-up ahead of the 2017 Scottish Championships.
Mike Kilroy and Chris Wormald will judge championship section bands as they lock horns on Herbert Howells’ Pageantry at the event in Perth Concert Hall.
First section bands performing Land of the Long White Cloud, by Philip Sparke, will come under the scrutiny of Brett Baker and Steve Pritchard Jones.
Bands in the second section will be judged by Mike Kilroy and Sheona White on Dean Goffin’s Rhapsody in Brass while third section bands playing Darkwood, by Dan Price, will be adjudicated by Steve Pritchard Jones and Chris Wormald.
Meanwhile, Brett Baker and Sheona White will listen to bands in the fourth section performing Alan Fernie’s St Andrew’s Variations.
As with previous years, Scotland will feature a section 4b, with Lynda Nicholson on hand to offer feedback to bands taking part.
Carrie Boax, SBBA president, told A4B: “The New Year is well underway and that means bands are hard at work ahead of the Scottish Championships. We are delighted to be welcoming a talented line-up of adjudicators to the event, and it’s great to see bands again taking part in section 4b.
An enjoyable weekend is on the cards and I am confident Scotland can send strong representatives to the National Brass Band Championships of Great Britain later in the year.”
The Scottish Championships take place on March 11 and 12. Proceedings get underway at 9.30am on both days, featuring third, second and first sections on Saturday and fourth, four B and championship sections on Sunday.
