Lucy Pankhurst Joins BBE Music Panel
Brass Bands England are very pleased to confirm that Lucy Pankhurst has agreed to join our Music Panel for the National Youth Brass Band Championships of Great Britain.
BBE has recently worked with Lucy on the Brass ReMade project when Yorkshire band Barnsley Brass performed in two matinee concerts in an inflatable white cube, which was a huge success and we look forward to working with her in the future.
Graduating with an honours degree in performance from the RNCM in 2004, Lucy remained at the college to complete an MMus in composition with Head of Composition, Adam Gorb. She then returned to the college in 2012 as a PhD researcher, focussing on contemporary brass composition techniques, including the application of electronics.
Lucy has received many prizes for her composition work, most notably in 2011 when she became the first female composer to be presented with a British Composer Award in the Brass/Wind Band category.
