New Associate Conductor Appointed at Enderby Band

Leicestershire based Enderby Band is delighted to announce that Simon Oates has been appointed in a brand new role of Associate Conductor. Simon is the former Musical Director of the Foss Dyke Band, leading them for a two-year period of success which included becoming Third Section runners up at the Midlands Regional Qualifier, qualification to the National Finals and promotion to the Second Section.

Speaking about his new appointment, Simon told A4B: ‘I am delighted to have been asked to join Enderby as their Associate Conductor. The band is going from strength to strength under the experienced musicianship of Simon Gresswell and I am very much looking forward to supporting Simon in the ongoing development of this fantastic band.’

Simon will work closely with Simon Gresswell, Enderby’s Musical Director, in all aspects of the band’s preparation for its concerts and contests. Simon Gresswell is understandably excited about the new appointment, telling A4B: ‘It became apparent, because of my own playing commitments with Tubular Brass and Yamaha that I needed help in directing the band. Simon is a former conductor of Foss Dyke and very much sings from the same song sheet as myself. I look forward to Simon’s positive combination in leading the band to further success.’

The band is eagerly looking forward to working with the new partnership, as it prepares for its summer programme of concerts and its defence of the Shirebrook entertainment contest.
