Huddersfield MD on the Run
With fundraising for the National Finals at Cheltenham in full flow, Huddersfield and Ripponden MD Adam Bell set himself the challenge of running two 10K races in 15 days in the hope of raising a few pounds for the band whilst losing a few himself.
Following the band’s qualification in March Adam took up running and has been gradually increasing his distances over recent months with the help of a few friends.
Adam told A4B: ‘The idea came about following a conversation with a friend training to take part in a triathlon later this year. I stupidly said I liked the idea of running a 10K race and he basically called my bluff. I thought I’d set
myself the challenge of running two in two weeks to try and raise some funds for our Cheltenham trip.
When I first started in April I struggled to even make half the distance so I’m really pleased with how things have gone and the training has helped shift a bit of extra weight before I get married at the end of August!’
Adam completed the first 10K race on Sunday 16th July in 54 minutes 49 seconds, finishing 52nd out of a field of 119. The second challenge took place on Sunday 30th July in Ryedale where Adam finished 39th out of 116 runners in a time of 53 minutes and 6 seconds.
