Wileman Takes Dronfield Helm
Dronfield Genquip Band is pleased to announce Damian Wileman as its new Musical Director.
On his appointment, Damian told A4B, “I am delighted to have been appointed Musical Director for Dronfield Band. The band has a real desire to succeed not only at competition level, but in providing enjoyable, innovative concerts that I know will entertain the audiences we play to. We have an exciting schedule ahead of us and already I have been impressed with the commitment and high level of musicality shown from all involved”.
Damian comes with a long history of banding success having held the seat of Bb Tuba with the internationally acclaimed Black Dyke Band and the Salvation Army International Staff Band. As a conductor he was instrumental in the building of Cornerstone Brass who have had multiple successes at contests over the last few years.
Dronfield’s Chairman Adrian Wood told A4B, “The band is really excited about this new chapter in its journey. Damian is a fantastic musician, and we’re looking forward to working with him to move the band to the next level”.
Damian will make his contesting debut with the band at the North East Derbyshire District Council Brass Band Festival on 23rd September.
