SWBBA Mid-Winter Workshop Places up for Grabs
The increasing popular Mid-Winter Brass Workshop, promoted and organised by the South West Brass Band Association, will take place over the weekend of Saturday 10th and Sunday 11th February 2018 at the West Buckland School, near Barnstaple North Devon.
The Workshop will provide both full band and sectional tuition, with a free close of workshop concert at 1600 hrs on the Sunday. The Workshop this year takes on a ‘Cory Brand’ theme with the tutors being Philip Harper, Tom Hutchinson (Principle Cornet Cory) and Glyn Williams (Principle Euphonium Cory).
The Workshops began in Bude 1999, the ‘brain child’ of the late Dr Goff Richards during his term as the Association’s President. It has since moved to Truro and then Tavistock before making its home at West Buckland School. The event can now boast an average attendance of 110 with the current President Sue Richards, continuing the support of her late husband.
The Executive is grateful to the funding received from the Arts Council England National Lottery to support this event and also to the Associate Sponsors, Taw and Torridge Coaches and Westcott & Son Co-operative Funeral care.
The full schedule and application form can be downloaded from www.southwestbrassbandassociation.co.uk. Applicants are advised to get their submissions in early as demand is expected to be high and places are limited. Applications will be accepted on a first come, first served basis with a reserve list running. Applicants will be advised, by email, of their place on the respective list on receipt of paperwork.
