Max Power for Friezland
Friezland Brass Band have recently been celebrating a year with MD Max Stannard at the helm. The band, which faced the possibility of folding before Max took up the position, has had a successful year under his baton, which has seen the Saddleworth band able to contest the Whit Friday circuit for the first time in a number of years, and treble in size from 8 to 24 players.
Friezland chairman, David Barker, has been delighted with the progress the band has made with Max at the reigns. He told A4B: ’Straight away we realised that Max was the man to take us forward. Over the last year his musical knowledge and encouraging and undemanding approach to rehearsals has created a great atmosphere across the band resulting in some of our best performances in years and has led to several players enthusiastically joining the band.’
Reflecting on his first 12 months as Musical Director of Friezland, Max told A4B: “It has been fantastic to see the band develop over the year. I would like to thank all of the players for their hard work and commitment. I am very proud of the progress we have made and look forward to our future projects.”
