Elland Band Grant to Prove Big Hit
Elland Silver Band are delighted to announce they have received a Ward Forum grant from Calderdale Council.
The grant will be used to fund tuition, equipment and music for our new “HIT IT” beginner percussion class, led by professional percussionist, Lauren Rosborough.
The class will be held every Thursday evening from 6 – 7pm at the bands headquarters in Dewsbury Road, Elland. Children aged 7 to 12 years are welcome to come along and join the class. The class will introduce children to a range of different percussion instruments from drum kit to glockenspiel, and will focus on basic rhythms and different drum beats. We have held three taster sessions, which have been a real hit with the children, and already they are making great progress.
Secretary, Kathleen Harrison, told A4B: “We are delighted to welcome Lauren as our percussion tutor. Lauren is a former member of our senior band, and has recently graduated from the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama. Percussion players are a key part of the band, and add so much colour and interest to our performances, providing opportunities for children to learn and have fun is essential to our organisation’s development. This grant will help to subsidise our costs, so we can make the class more affordable.”
If you think your child would like to come along to the class please contact our Secretary, Kathleen Harrison on [email protected]
