8th Holme Valley Slow Melody Contest Announced

The 8th Annual Slow Melody and Ensemble Competition will once again be held in the impressive Bandroom at Hade Edge on Saturday 16th June 2018.

The event has become an established part of the Slow Melody “circuit”, offering a friendly welcome, great refreshments and relaxed atmosphere, whilst this year also sees another special award being introduced.

Organiser, Graham Bates, told A4B: “We’re delighted to have secured the services of Leigh Baker to adjudicate this year’s event. Leigh is well known as a member of AoBBA, former member of Brighouse & Rastrick, current M.D. of Hepworth Band, and producer of a number of fine arrangements for Brass Bands”.

“We have the usual sections, although “Veterans” now need to be able to qualify for Saga (50+), lots of special awards, keepsakes, instrumentalist awards and new for this year a “Champion of Champions” to be awarded to the highest aggregate points in the Open Slow Melody and Air Varie / Technical sections”.
