Haverhill Welcome a Host of New Signings
The last few months have seen a brace of new signings for Haverhill Silver Band.
Joining on Repiano Cornet, we welcome Andy Hunt. Andy returns to the brass band scene following a short break from playing; prior to this, he was a member of the Yorkshire Imperial DUT Band. Andy is excited to be playing again and is very much looking forward to being part of the band.
The band would also like to thank Ellie Bould, who prior to the arrival of Andy, had held the Repiano seat (alongside her main role as Principal Cornet of Tendring Brass) until a permanent member could be found.
June saw the arrival of Michael Dawson on Solo Eb Bass. Michael has worked as a freelance musician and holds an enviable playing record; having previously been a member of the Brighouse & Rastrick Band, Fairey Band and Hallé Orchestra to name but a few. Michael has already made a positive impact on the band and we are delighted to have him on board.
These signings follow the arrival of Ryan Higgin on Solo Trombone and Liz Tweedle on Solo Baritone, joining from Pemberton Old Wigan Band and Wingates Band respectively.
MD Paul Filby told A4B: “Andy and Michael are two fine players that we are pleased to welcome to the band just ahead of a busy concert and contest season. Ryan and Liz joined the band a few months ago and have already shown themselves as highly skilled and dedicated musicians.”
The band will shortly be performing for the High Sheriff of Suffolk at his summer garden party and will appear for the first time at the St Edmundsbury Christmas Fayre later this year. Contest and concert performances together with WW1 commemorative events in the Autumn will make it a busy time for the band.
