Blidworth Delight In Protégé Success
Blidworth Welfare Band are delighted with the progress of their cornet protege, Corey Kohut who has recently been awarded the Selston Music Festival Special Award Trophy and sponsorship from the festival.
The award is for performers under the age of 18 who are considered to be committed, talented, shows great promise and is a lovely person.
Corey will receive the award at the new Patrons/Friends thank you event ‘An Afternoon with Selston Music Festival’ and will perform a couple of pieces for those attending.
As well as making excellent progress in Blidworth Welfare Band, Corey recently attended for a cornet lesson with Black Dyke’s Principal Cornet, Richard Marshall and will be playing Flugel Horn at the March NEMBBA Youth Band course.
Simon Oates, Blidworth Welfare Band’s Musical Director told A4B: “Corey is showing excellent promise and is already an integral part of Blidworth Welfare Band. We are aware of our responsibility to encourage young players to progress and reach their full potential giving them every opportunity to play to the very best of their capabilities and see Corey as someone that will rise through the ranks to become a star of tomorrow’.
