Foden’s Sign Jonathan Kitchen on Percussion
Foden’s are pleased to announce the signing of Jonathan Kitchen who joins the bands Percussion section.
Jonathan studied cello at the Royal College of Music and has subsequently had a varied freelance career with all the major London Orchestras. For 20 years Jon was Co-Principal cello of English Touring Opera and most recently was the cellist for the UK & European tour of Miss Saigon. Other highlights include recording the Lord of the Rings soundtrack with the London Philharmonic and as a percussionist member of the Symphonic Brass of London conducted by Eric Crees. Jonathan originally joined Aveley & Newham band in 1999 followed by a period playing with Redbridge Brass and GUS. In 2014 Jonathan relocated back to Staffordshire from London and subsequently joined Brighouse and Rastrick on timpani.
Speaking about the appointment, Mark Landon told A4B: ‘We are extremely pleased that Jon has joined the Percussion section. Jon is an accomplished musician and experienced percussionist who will be a valuable asset to the band’
Speaking about Foden’s, Jon told A4B: ‘”I’m delighted to be joining such a forward thinking and committed band. Originally I was asked to provide maternity leave cover, but due to enjoying my time with the organisation decided to make this a permanent move. I have had a rewarding time with Brighouse but the 200 mile round trip had become too draining. I’m looking forward to the Open and then defending the Nationals title with Foden’s in October.’
