Whit Friday is not cancelled in 2020!
A4B had been informed by the Fodens Band that “Whit Friday is not cancelled in 2020!”
As part of our Arts Council ‘Covid 19’ funding award Foden’s are pleased to announce details of a virtual Whit Friday competition.
Following the phenomenal success of the Online Festival & Slow melody competition, Foden’s have decided to keep Whit Friday going in 2020 by hosting their very own online March competition via Facebook.
Open to all standards around the world, the competition will run along similar lines to the usual Whit Friday contests with performances available to view via the Foden’s Facebook page.
Bands from Youth to Championship standard are encouraged to record and submit their very own ‘Stay at Home’ march for adjudication by Foden’s Musical Director Michael Fowles.
Entries will be published from 21st May until the 5th June 2020, with the prize winners announced shortly after.
The rules are very simple –
A standard style march with DC to be performed (no repeats on the DC)
The performance must be a true ‘stay at home’ production with no unnecessary edits/effects being utilised. A previously recorded audio product cannot be used in anyway.
The submissions can be as creative as you wish but must show the players performing separately.
The ‘order of play’ will be determined on a first come first served basis, with performances being uploaded for viewing on Facebook from 21st May 2020.
Percussion is optional
The top 3 placings will be announced only (which covers all sections)
Darren Lea from Foden’s commented ‘We are thrilled to be able to give bands an opportunity to continue to perform in this way. We are looking forward to seeing (and hearing) performances from bands that are normally unable to compete due to their location. This competition opens up Whit Friday to all’.
To register your Band all you need to do is email:
[email protected] you will then be issued with details of how to submit your performance.
We look forward along with the rest of the world to seeing you perform.
