David Gillson & Tristram Cox head for pastures new.
David Gillson, the band’s Principal Cornet, has stepped down due to increased travel pressures. David had been the band’s Principal Cornet for the past 4 years and led the band on its 150th anniversary CD, ‘Heritage’. During the pandemic David relocated back to his home town of Stockton-on-Tees and unfortunately the time pressures of a 200 mile round trip to rehearsal forced his decision.
Tristram (Trum) Cox has been the band’s Bass Trombonist for 13 years, playing a part in our 2013 Grand Shield victory and subsequent British Open and National Championship appearances at the Royal Albert Hall. Trum now has a young family and a new job so the time was right to find a new challenge too, he now leaves Milnrow to join Rothwell Temperance Band.
We wish both David and Trum the very best in all of their future endeavours, and thank them for their unwavering commitment.
The band is now inviting applications for the position of Principal Cornet, we hope to make an announcement on the Bass Trombone position shortly.
