West Yorkshire Bands Together For Children’s Hospice
Over the festive period, representatives from a wide variety of West Yorkshire Bands gave up their time to come together on three occasions to play carols to fundraise for Martin House Children’s Hospice.
The group performed at the ‘Ego’ Mediterranean restaurant in Horbury near Wakefield and raised £562 for the children’s charity, playing on Sunday 17th and Thursday 21st December as well as Christmas Eve.
Over the three dates, players from Huddersfield and Ripponden, Gawthorpe Brass ’85, Skelmanthorpe, Thurlstone, Hade Edge, Wakefield Orchestral Wind, Elland Silver, Wetherby Silver and the West Yorkshire Fire Service Band, kindly gave up their time to entertain diners.
Event organiser and Huddersfield and Ripponden MD, Adam Bell told A4B: ‘It’s incredibly humbling that so many people from so many bands freely give up their time to support these events at a time of year when everyone is so busy with their own organisations. This is the 13th year we’ve run this event but the first since the restaurant chain rebranded our local pub; after its closure last January we worried whether we’d be allowed to put on further events but have worked hard with the management staff to keep what has become a tradition for many going. We’re already making plans to come back in 2018!’
