Dronfield Heading to Belgium & Cheltenham
Dronfield Genquip Band will once again be representing the region at the National Brass Band Championships of Great Britain at Cheltenham Racecourse in September.
After appointing their new musical director, Damian Wileman, last year, the band has gone from strength to strength and with a podium place at the Yorkshire Regional Contest, the band has not only qualified for the National Finals for the 5th time in recent years, but will also see a promotion to the second section from January 2019.
Damian Wileman told A4B: “I am absolutely thrilled with the result. Everyone has worked so hard over the last few months and they really deserve this. We’re looking forward to representing Yorkshire in Cheltenham in September.”
The band has a busy year ahead with a tour to Belgium planned in August. After a hugely successful tour to Belgium in 2011, Dronfield Genquip Band will once again be heading out to this beautiful country steeped in history and culture, and will be taking the name of Dronfield with them. The band will be playing at a number of prestigious engagements including the Last Post Ceremony in Ypres as well as venues in Brussels, Bruges and Maastricht.
