Foden’s Heritage Website Launched

On the 27th March Foden’s Band held a ‘Heritage Concert’ and ‘Heritage Website Launch’ to a capacity audience at Sandbach Town Hall.

The concert was a celebration of the bands history as well as marking the conclusion of a major fifteen month project. The first half of the concert included un published works from original manuscripts (some of which were over 100 years old) with the second half featuring pieces relevant to specific events, composer’s and conductors of the band through the years.

The funding award allowed the band to digitise their historical artefacts, 78’s recordings (outside of copyright) as well as original manuscripts. Foden’s also recorded previously un recorded and un published music with all the digitised information being housed on a new ‘Heritage Website.’ On top of this, training was provided for various members in how do deal with historical documents and digitisation as well as how to catalogue these.

Speaking about the project Mark Wilkinson told A4B: ‘Foden’s have a rich history going back over 115 years and the funding award has allowed us to safeguard this for future generations to enjoy as well as being able to share this world wide. We would like to thank all those involved in the project with special thanks going to Stewart Green, Allan Littlemore, James Charles and Devmac Systems. The project would not have been possible without the award courtesy of the Heritage Lottery and Carole Hirst’s expertise in collating and submitting the successful bid. All at Foden’s are extremely pleased with the outcomes of the project as well as our new Heritage Website’

The Heritage Website can be viewed at www.fodensbandheritage.co.uk
