Fishburn Announce Death of Vice President

Fishburn band announce the sudden death of the Vice President, friend and stalwart, Billy Elliott.

Billy, aged 71, a long time supporter and a man with extraordinary skills for fund raising, died in hospital, today, the 11th of November, at 02:30. He had suffered with ill health for a considerable time with many hospital admissions preventing his daily routine, though he still continued a connection with the band as much as possible and was ever present leading the band at the Durham miners gala – latterly on his mobility scooter!

A spokesperson for the band told A4B: ‘The band learned of the tragic news at their annual Remembrance duties in Birtley. The news added an extra poignancy to the day’s event especially for the longer serving band members. Fishburn’s very own Billy Elliott will be sorely missed and our condolences are extended to his family.’
